What other drivetrains work well on the Refugio Podium?
- Any SRAM AXS (wireless) drivetrain works great. The frame is UDH compatible, so you are able to run any Transmission/Full Mount rear derailleur. If using a 1x drivetrain be sure to spec a WIDE version of the crankset you intend to use. If you opt for a 2x drivetrain you need a WIDE crankset and the largest chainring combination should not exceed 43/30t (47.5mm chainline minimum).
- Any Shimano Di2 (electronic) 12spd 1x drivetrain will fit up nicely. The drive side dropout breather hole is large enough for the rear E-Tube wire to pass through. Make sure the crankset you spec has a minimum chainline of 47.5mm. The frame is not currently compatible with 2x Di2 12spd drivetrains.
I am thinking of running mechanical disc brakes, do they all work?
- The Refugio Podium is optimized for flat mount hydraulic brakes (See Frameset Technical Specifications). While there are many cable actuated flat mount disc brakes that will work well (TRP Spyre, Growtac Equal), there are some that do not work well due to how the cables need to route (Paul Klampers).
Can you tell me more about the Bead Blasted Finish?
- Both decal options will come with the same bead blasted frame finish. We take the raw titanium frame and bead blast it to give it a nice, uniform matte finish for a timeless look. Titanium does not corrode, so there is no need to seal the frame with a top coat.
If you choose Polished Ti Decals, all the Stinner decals will be raw titanium that we hand polish to give a bright, gloss finish. A subtle contrast to the bead blasted finish.
If you choose Black Decals all the Stinner decals will be a satin black finish. The bolder option for those who want to show their appreciation for this made in the USA frame.
Can you help me understand chainline for the Refugio Podium?
The minimum chainline to ensure proper fitment of a 1x chainring is 47.5mm. That means that the center of the chainring teeth sit 47.5mm outboard from the centerline of the frame. The max chainring that will fit with a 47.5mm chainline is a 42t. Other set-ups might work, but we cannot ensure fitment if your set-up is anything other than the stated 47.5mm 1x chainline.
To check your 1x chainline you can measure the distance from your chainring teeth to the closest point on the seat tube. Take that measurement and add 14.5mm (29mm thickness of the Carrizo seat tube divided in half).
The minimum chainline to ensure proper fitment of a 2x set-up is 47.5mm. The chainline on a 2x chainring set-up is measured from the center of the distance between the two chainrings. The max chainring combination that will fit with a 47.5mm chainline is a 43/30t. Other set-ups might work, but we cannot ensure fitment if your set-up is anything other than the stated 47.5mm 2x chainline or if you run larger than 43/30t chainrings.
To check your 2x chainline you can measure the distance from your outer chainring teeth to the closest point on the seat tube. Repeat that for the inner chainring. Subtract the inner ring distance from the outer ring distance and divide that number by half. Add that value to the inner ring distance then add 14.5mm (29mm thickness of the Carrizo seat tube divided in half).
